Christian and Nick: An Intimate Backyard Memphis Wedding – By Amy

Christian and Nick: An Intimate Backyard Memphis Wedding – By Amy

Christian and Nick are the definition of “take in stride”. When the virus-that-shall-not-be-named entered the scene, suddenly everyone’s hard-worked plans were thrown out the window. However, when Christian and Nick needed to throw the plans out the window, these two strapped on parachutes and jumped with them! Literally. Shortly after the two met, Nick had somehow convinced Christian to do join him on some of the most daring thrill rides! Skydiving, Cage diving with sharks, and scuba diving just to name a few! You’d never suspect the adventure these two seek out but maybe that’s what made their transition into a world-wide pandemic so smooth – whatever was thrown at them, they didn’t allow it to mess up their stride.

Sal & Rebeca’s Wedding at The Gin at Nesbit

What happens when a bride also works in the wedding industry for one of the best florists in town? A STUNNING wedding, that’s what! Rebeca works with the fabulous Deedra Stone and not only were the florals amazing but you could tell the whole wedding was put together by a bride who knew what she wanted thanks to seeing so many weddings. Not one part of this wedding didn’t have Rebeca and Sal’s touch to it and that is what made their day so special!

Sal and Rebeca’s not only had their touch on all the aspects of the day, they were also surrounded by all those they have touched. They are both caring individuals with families that are so supportive. Rebeca’s son, Iker, was happy for his mom and already in love with Sal! And this speaks volumes of Sal’s character – he has such a strong and loving bond with Iker. Family is at the heart of this marriage and it was such an honor to help document this on their wedding day.

Our favorite part of the day was the toasts. Sal’s brother made a great toast on how this family is a bridge of two cultures – Italian and Hispanic – that share a lot of the same values. He highlighted, in a humorous way, the similarities of food and the importance of food to both families. The dinner table is where relationships grow and connection is made.

Rebeca’s brother had us all crying with his toast! The pride he has in is sister is evident. He adores her and is so happy that Sal has come into her life to enrich her life even more! It is these moments that we cherish because you see why weddings happen – to witness the love and celebrate the future of two people committing to one another for life.

And, lastly, Iker even gave a toast! He impressed us all day with his love for Rebeca and Sal, and his patience as a young boy to go through a long day of… let’s be honest… boring things for a kid! He told his mom how much she means to him, told Sal how much he loved him, and thanked God for how his life now. I mean…. sooooo sweet! It’s a toast we will remember for a long while.

As you can tell, while we love beautiful weddings, what we really cherish about our work is the relationships we get to document and gain through the process! We will take a plain wedding that has soul over a gorgeous wedding that feels inauthentic. Thankfully, Sal and Rebeca had soul and authenticity all in one, and that makes us happy!
