Hillary & David : A Life Portrait

Hillary & David : A Life Portrait

Savannah and I are excited to unveil an idea that is over a year in the making: Life Portraits. We approached Hillary and David – a young couple, both artists, with a new puppy – to try something new. And we are very excited to show you what we ended up with:

So what is a Life Portrait session? Simply put, a Life Portrait is a creative documentary that displays the beauty of your life and lifestyle through both photography and film. You can think of a Life Portrait as starting where a traditional portrait session leaves off. While a traditional portrait captures you during a special milestone in your life, a Life Portrait captures why the milestone is meaningful. It is a way to document, celebrate, cherish, and pass down a special season of your life in a deeper way than a traditional portrait allows.

It’s a great and unique way to celebrate an engagement, anniversary, a personal achievement, or just a sweet time for you as a couple! Feel free to contact us for more info.

Happy First Anniversary: Seth and Jennifer!

Happy First Anniversary: Seth and Jennifer!

I seriously cannot believe that we are already in October! This past year has flown by! Before we get to far into the month we wanted to stop and wish Seth and Jennifer a very happy first anniversary.  I can hardly believe that it has been a year since we celebrated with you guys on that beautiful day last October 1st. You both were so much fun to work with and we loved every minute we got to spend with you! We hope that you have had a great first year of marriage and that the next years are even better!

Cheers,

Savannah and Philip

Four Years Later…. It’s Even Better

Four Years Later…. It’s Even Better

This was our second anniversary. We went to Nashville and had some of our dear friends, Sean and Mel McLellan, shoot some “day-after” photos of us. We had grown in just two years of marriage. Our wedding photography business was on the cusp of really taking off (thanks in part to the McLellan’s mentorship throughout the years), our marriage was becoming more mature once we got passed the newness, and we began to settle in.

Some people hate to be settled in – its a sign that you don’t live. For us, being settled in means we can finally live because the great thing do stick out from everyday. But the everyday is so sweet because I get to do the mundane with the most captivating person in the world. It truly is a win-win.

Two years later (four years married), we have a great life. We wake up every morning together, walk across our breezeway to our studio every morning, and sit across from each other working. When times are slower we get to relax together all day. We’ve been told that some couples can’t be with each other and work together all day – I can’t imagine it any other way.

Savannah is by far the most devoted person I know. She is driven, strong, and spunky. She knows how to laugh often and make me laugh like no other. She encourages my passive personality to stick out. She encourages me in my landscape work and is okay with my attention being split at times between that and weddings and even her. She’s selfless in that way. She’s cool like that.

Two years after our day-after shoot, we are again a lot different. We own a house and a studio. We now have a cat on top of having the dog. Our lives look nothing like the way we thought they would this day four years ago. It looks even sweeter, stronger, and more fun than I could have ever imagined. And that is in large part due to Savannah being the woman who she is – I just try to keep up!

Savannah, I love you, and am looking forward to seeing who we become in the years to come. If the past is any indicator, it’ll be even better than we could imagine. I thank God for you everyday!

Cheers!

Happy Anniversary: Stephen and Kimberlee

Happy Anniversary: Stephen and Kimberlee

Let’s just take our time
There’s nothing else to do
What better way to spend the night
Wasting air with you
The moon has won the war
The daylight waits to win
Stay here by my side we’ll watch
The struggles start again

I need you now and forever
Just stay right here with me
Don’t ever leave
Love was kept from me like a secret
And I swore that I was through
Until you, until you

-Until You-

Dave Barnes

Happy first anniversary to Stephen and Kimberlee! I can’t believe that it has been a year now! It has been so fun watching the two of you enjoy your first year together as husband and wife. Thank you so much for letting us be a part of your life!

To many more decades of happiness and joy together!

Savannah and Philip

Happy Anniversary: Bethany and Kyle

Happy Anniversary: Bethany and Kyle

A year ago yesterday Bethany and Kyle started their lives together as one. What a great day it was! Family and friends gathered around and the entire day was full of smiles and tears of joy. Getting to be a part of the McCoy’s wedding day was an honor and joy. We hope you have had a great first year together and each year together keeps getting better and better!

Cheers,
Savannah and Philip
