Savannah and I are getting really excited about the community we are building in town! The goal is to build a community of like-minded photographers here in Memphis and we have enjoyed getting to know new faces and becoming closer with familiar ones. If you are a gear head; Vogue Magazine page-tearer; can’t take a walk at the park, in the woods, or drive down the road without seeing locations for shoots; and love hanging out with fellow artists; then you would probably get along great with us! We urge all who are interested to come out and be a part!

The last MAP (Memphis-area Photographers- I don’t want to type that term out every time so sorry for the cheesy abbreviation) get-together we all sat down and just look at each other’s work and tried to help each other out as to where we could improve – very clean and constructive critique. We also just hung out, ate some food, and just became closer friends. Savannah and I really enjoyed it!

This coming get-together is on September 30th at 7:00 PM and will be at our place. We will have coffee and dessert – you can bring your favorite dessert if you want! As we thought about what we would like to do (if anything), we saw some friends of ours from out of town who had a great topic for a similar type of meeting. So we will discuss: What Makes a Great Image? To do this, we will look at art pieces together that you guys pick and you will get to describe why you think it is great and we will just discuss.

Here is what we need from you:
– RSVP at philip@avagracephotography.com
– With your RSVP, email us your top two favorite images – photograph, painting, sculpture, mural, sketch, etc. – at a decently high quality (at least 800px if at all possible). EXAMPLE: Stary Night by Van Gogh, Michelangelo’s statue of David, or Anselm Adams Grand Tetons.
– I will respond to your RSVP with directions to our place.
– Lastly, SPREAD THE WORD! Tweet about it, let your fellow photographers know about it, offer to drive them there, etc. The more, the merrier!

Our address:

8668 Eagle View Dr. Cordova, TN 38018

Hope to hear from many of you soon!
Philip and Savannah

And a post isn’t complete without an image. A recent frame taken during an engagement session. Fall is just around the corner!
